Field Trip: Full Moon Hike at Blue Heron Lake

Join us for a field trip! On Saturday, 10/24 we will go on an evening exploration hike around Blue Heron Lake (formerly Stow Lake) right here in San Francisco. Listen for owls waking up early this time of year, and watch the changing light. If you are curious but nervous about being in the park at night, this hike is for you!

• Meet at the boat house at 4:30 (there is a parking lot and a bathroom).

• Walk up Strawberry Hill during the evening light, and look for the early rising full moon.

• This hike is stroller and wagon friendly.

• The full loop is about 1 mile long, and climbs up a hill (about 200 ft in elevation gain, but not steep). You do not need to walk the full loop to join, if you are comfortable walking back on your own.

• Please dress in warm layers.

• Bring a flashlight or headlamp if you have one (phone lights work, too), because the sun will be setting by the end of the hike.
